About Louise...

A successful singer presenting mainstream swing and jazz standards, Louise, as well as her own band, works with the Pasadena Roof Orchestra, The Piccadilly Dance Orchestra, The Jay Craig Orchestra and has appeared with the BBC Big Band several times. She has performed at major theatres and concert halls both in the UK and across Europe, provided the music for the Savoy Hotel Sunday Tea Dances for four years and has sung on BBC Radio 2, 3 and 4, as well as appearing in Period TV drama. Louise has a particular love of and affinity for the dance band vocalists of the 1930's and 40's; singers such as Helen Forrest, Peggy Lee, Helen Ward and early Anita O'Day and the bands of Artie Shaw, Benny Goodman and Harry James, to name but a few. Her band features some of today's finest musicians and is always hugely popular with audiences everywhere.

2011 was an exciting year for Louise as among many other concerts and events, she performed for the cast of new musical comedy, "Lend Me A Tenor" at their first night party, she sang at a private event for Earl Spencer and she was the Special Guest Vocalist on a successful tour with Ken Peplowski and The BBC Big Band in a Tribute to Benny Goodman.  She also performed at the National Concert Hall in Dublin and at Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club with James Langton and His Solid Senders, featuring more of the music of Benny Goodman.

"singing sultry vocals that sit perfectly amid the rich settings of the band" (Alyn Shipton, The Times)

"An added bonus came courtesy of Louise Cookman’s vocals. She added her own style to numbers associated with Ella Fitzgerald and Peggy Lee. Why Don’t You Do Right was outstanding." (Barrie Jerram, The Brighton Argus)

"Glamorous velvet-toned chanteuse" (Jack Massarik, Hot Tickets) "Classy modern jazz vocalist.... sings from the American songbook" (Time Out)

"what I did witness was nothing short of exquisite, from the sumptuous vocal of Louise Cookman to Langton's deft band leadership - the Solid Senders were tight, bright and right on the money" (Lee Tyler, Blues&Soul.com)
